She works closely with e-money and card issuers, acquirers, digital wallet providers, marketplaces and e-commerce platforms, and both regulated and unregulated stored value products, such as gift cards. Giedre mainly advises on payments and e-money legislation, as well as wider financial services regulation, anti-money laundering compliance and consumer protection rules. With a strong focus on anticipating regulatory challenges, Giedre is actively advising on PSD3 impact and readiness assessments, helping firms prepare for the next generation of payments legislation, and engages frequently with UK and EU policymakers and regulators.
Giedre regularly advises on regulatory authorisation strategies, governance, outsourcing, safeguarding, payment system access and chance of control applications. She leads multi-jurisdictional due diligence projects, providing advice for compliant product launch strategies in new markets, and drafts and advises on customer-facing (B2B and B2C) and commercial agreements.
Before joining FM Legal, Giedre was a regulatory manager at one of the UK’s largest prepaid card issuers, where she led cross-border compliance projects and major regulatory change initiatives, including PSD2 and MLD4. She trained as a solicitor at a US law firm in London, including secondments with a UK payment system operator and a non-bank payment service provider.
